A post today about a giveaway or two that I have found in my recent travels on blog land, as well as some links you all might enjoy:
Linda, a fellow Ontario blogger from Lavender Ridge is having an amazing giveaway for a Accuquilt Go! I encourage you all to stay away from her blog until after Nov. 10th when she will draw the winner. That will leave me a better chance at winning, cause I really, really would like to win this beauty! If I won, I would get the circle and square dies so that I could make penny rugs without trying to cut manually on the wool. My hands aren't as strong as they used to be, and it hurts too much to hold the scissors, so I would be in cutting heaven!!

Now that the cold weather is officially here we can get back to some serious comfort cooking. This is a great site for crock pot lovers: Crock pot Recipe Exchange.
Little Birdie's blog has a pattern for a no sew purse, and its really cool, and looks very easy to make.
Paula Deen's son Bobby has some 'lighter' versions of Paula's recipes. Here is a link to these small apple pies, that Bobby has made a little healthier for us! Bobby Deen's lighter apple pies.
How to make crepe paper flowers, which can be used with any color of crepe paper that you might desire from Country Living.
I just love this idea from Good Housekeeping which would be great if you are going to, or hosting a toboggan snowman making party...or how about a winter backyard bonfire party? I know that my daughter Jess will grab this idea to have her friends over for a night of bonfire and a snowman building contest! What a great treat to serve with piping hot chocolate in over sized mugs...it almost sounds fun enough to get me to bundle up and head outside on a cold winters night. DIY Hot Cocoa Dippers.
Stir up something special this season with DIY hot cocoa dippers. Gather large marshmallows, drinking straws, chocolate, and red nonpareil sprinkles. Skewer marshmallows on straws, then melt chocolate in a small vessel (such as a shallow microwave-safe bowl). Dip in marshmallows, leaving white tops exposed; lift sticks straight up, letting excess chocolate drip off. Cool briefly on waxed paper, but dip marshmallow bottoms into sprinkles while chocolate is still slightly soft.

How to thread a needle and tie a knot for sewing or stitching.
While discovering how to properly thread needles, I wandered through the Wonder How To website, which is huge, and has a ton of 'how tos' for any number of things. It is well worth a look.
Great tutorial on making stuffed pumpkins. I made this first one last month, but gave it away for a 50th birthday present. I am going to adapt this pattern into making a three level snowman, similar to the pumpkin man below.
How to begin and end your knots for a stitchery. I am messy and lazy, so the back of my sewing looks like a mess of highway over and underpasses, but I am going to try and be neater from now on.

I just love the idea of making some of these ornaments to put in gift baskets or as gift tags for Christmas. Of course, I would adapt it somewhat to my taste with maybe a deep red or green paint, and probably a simpler stamp, but I just love it. Simple enough to do in an evening as well. Finally, on November 11th, please remember to pause for a minute or two to think about the brave men and woman who are protecting us in the armed forces, and remember all of those whose lives were lost to allow us to be free.
